About Röyk
Röyk is a Swedish brand and was founded in 2010 when the first product, a hoodie with a unique, patented design, won first prize in the innovation competition 'Innovation for Extremes'. The award received a lot of attention from both the press and retailers and in connection with it the brand Röyk was created with a focus on functional and sustainable products for skiing and outdoor life. The name Röyk comes from the expression “röjåk” which was popular among Swedish “ski bums” in the French ski resort Val d'Isère in the early 2000s.
Sustainability is in our DNA and Röyk worked with Filippa K to establish the infrastructure to take advantage of all the Swedish wool that is thrown away or burned, resulting in our groundbreaking Norrby Wool Sweater. We were also the first in the industry to manufacture outerwear in 100% bio-based materials from castor seeds and our iconic Badland Merino Jacket has been awarded major sustainability awards such as the ISPO Eco Achievement Award and the Scandinavian Outdoor Sustainability Award. Scandinavian Outdoor Group also awarded Röyk its highest sustainability award, "Overall Sustainability Winner".
An important part of our daily work is innovation projects with a particular focus on the wool sector. Our overall goal is to develop products that are circular with improved functionality and environmental impact. This drives us to constantly develop new fabrics or improve existing materials, fiber compositions, treatment methods and production methods. Through these innovation processes, we constantly raise the bar for industry standards and create innovative solutions that benefit everyone in our industry. We have long been role models in the industry for our innovative materials, we would like to see more people use the materials that we develop or work with.
We manufacture products of the highest quality and with a high degree of versatility for maximum usability. Our products are therefore developed to last a long time and function well in different contexts and activities. Our production follows certified chemical guidelines, and we have a strong focus on promoting a circular economy by minimizing overproduction and using more sustainable materials and packaging. We also place great importance on the social working environment, both at ourselves and at our suppliers. Our products are certified for sustainability and environmental consideration, to make it easier for the consumer to make greener choices.
Our business idea is to create timeless, versatile products, for maximum longevity and a wide range of uses. By creating products that, as opposed to being perceived as activity-specific, instead encourage use in both everyday life and outdoor life, we want to help reduce overconsumption. Our clothes can be used in several ways and we are happy to see that the garments are repaired or resold. We always start from a circular basic philosophy when we create a garment and hope that you as a consumer want to follow our development,
